Preschool Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons for 3 year olds and 4 year olds
Build water confidence and safety while having fun!
Dive into the fun with our specially designed swimming programme, tailored to work alongside your child’s development, and perfect for preschoolers!
We understand that every family is different, so we offer two options to match your availability and situation.
Ready for just a splash of independence?
We offer pre-schoolers a daytime (between 9am and 3pm) 2:1 teacher:pupil ratio lesson, where two small ones (aged 2 to 4) learn together with one of our professional swimming teachers, while parents or carers stay dry at the pool side.
Ready to swim in a bigger group?
Three- or four-year olds can also join our 4:1 group lessons, which take place on the weekends or after school from 3pm to 6pm in the week. This means little ones can swim about the same times as older siblings (subject to lesson availability).
Both 2:1 and 4:1 lessons follow our Learn to Swim programme, starting with a 5 metre badge and then Stage 1 certificate!
No matter which path you choose, our experienced teachers create a safe and playful environment for your child to build confidence and water skills, all while having a great time.
What our customers say…
What we teach
The focus is on getting your child independently confident in the water. Lesson content includes basic stroke technique, how to climb out of the pool, jumping into the water and a balance of fun, learning and discipline.
Teaching water safety is key and as a rule, arm bands or similar flotation devices are not used in our lessons. This is because they can easily create a false sense of buoyancy, which little people might not understand, meaning they think they can float in water when they actually can’t.
As this could be unsafe if they ever came across water by themselves, we prefer instead to use noodles and boards, which assist flotation only when they are needed.

What to expect
Preschoolers learn in small groups
In our swimming classes for 3 and 4-year olds, children go into the water by themselves (ie without parents). Of course all under the watchful eye of our trained and experienced teachers.
Preschoolers learn by doing
It’s also worth mentioning to be effective at teaching, we demonstrate movement and physically help our pupils perfect those movements in the pool. This may involve the teacher supporting your child in a hands-on way.
Safe and firm teaching
Whilst our classes are enjoyable, we find children benefit from a firm no-nonsense approach to uphold safety in the pool and the focus is on learning.
child protection
All of our staff are DBS checked for child protection purposes.
What to bring
Swimming goggles
We request the children have goggles. These are available to buy at the pools to make it easy for you to get hold of them. You can read about the best goggles for children and why here!
Caps for every stage
A free orange silicon cap is provided, even for 3- and 4-year olds. This is very important at Cindy’s Swim School, for pool hygiene, fewer distractions for the children and our overall community cohesion. Read more about why we’re so keen on swimming caps and how to put them on easily here!
