School holiday courses
Our next school holiday courses takes place during the Easter break.
What better way to keep your child busy in the school holidays than send them on a crash course to learn to swim or improve their swimming technique. Crash courses are a great way to ensure the safety of your children around water, introduce beginners to swimming, help cautious swimmers feel more at home in the water, or to overcome any difficulties they may be having with their stroke.
The next course dates are:
Course 1: 8th to the 12th of April - block of 5 half hour lessons over 5 days.
Course 2: April 15th to the 18th subject to demand - we may run a shorter 4 day course in the second week of the Easter holidays. So if you can't do the first week please register your interest for the second week.
We offer swimming courses for children aged 2 and upwards during the school holidays, catering for all levels of ability. From ensuring the safety of your children around water, introducing beginners to swimming or improving swimming technique, crash courses are a great way to build your child’s confidence. As the courses run on consecutive days, it often helps your child to consolidate their learning and build on it. They get to spend time with the same teacher and the same class mates, which can also help fast track their progress.
Group lessons have a maximum of 4 pupils per class, pupil's take part in one half an hour lesson per course day.
9am – 2 to 3 and a half year olds (stage 1)
9.30am - children from 3 and a half upwards (stage 1)
10am – children (stage 2)
10.30am – children (stage 3 - subject to demand we need a minimum of 3 to run the course)
When you book you will be allocated a class time, which remains the same for the 5 days.
We can also book private lessons between 11am and 1pm. Private lessons can operate on a 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 or 1:4 teacher pupil ratio. Private lessons are costed based on the number of pupils in the lesson - please call the office to discuss your requirements and the cost. If you want your child to have a private class with other children, just to point out we need you to book together (we don’t match pupils together for private lessons).
What to bring
A free silicon cap is provided. The colour of this will change as your child passes each stage. Children will also need to wear goggles, to make it easy for you to get hold of them, for £10 a pair (for 0 to 6 year olds) and £15 a pair (suitable for age 6 to adults).
Other points to note
Children go into the water by themselves (ie without parents). Of course under the watchful eye of our teachers. Whilst our classes are meant to be enjoyable, we find children benefit from a firm no-nonsense approach to uphold safety and order in the pool and the focus is on learning to improve. It’s also worth mentioning to be effective at teaching, we demonstrate movement and physically help our pupils perfect those movements in the pool. This may involve the teacher supporting your child in a hands on way. All of our staff are DBS checked for child protection purposes.
Course prices (group lessons)
Course 1: block of 5 half an hour lessons over the 5 days costs £99 per child for the 5 day course.
Course 2: block of 4 half an hour lessons over the 5 days costs £80 per child for the 4 day course.
