Located on Sellincourt Road, Tooting Broadway, it\u2019s a warm, welcoming environment where little ones can start learning essential swimming skills, build water confidence, and most importantly\u2014have fun. <\/p>\n

Unlike busy public pools, the private setting and smaller, quieter space help babies stay focused, feel secure, and enjoy quality time with their parents and swimming teacher.<\/p>\n

A parent or guardian must accompany the baby in the pool for each lesson, making it a special bonding time too.<\/p>\n

Our classes for babies start as young as 6 weeks and you can progress to toddler and preschool classes.<\/p>\n

\ud83c\udf0a Discover our Tooting Pool<\/h2>\n

Our Tooting pool is located in Sellincourt Primary School, Tooting Broadway.<\/p>\n

It’s an indoor heated pool which measures 8m by 2.5m. All the pools we use for our baby classes are heated to the recommended temperatures for little ones \u2014 at least 30\u00b0C for babies over six months, and 32\u00b0C for babies up to three months.<\/p>\n

Toilets, showers and changing facilities are available.<\/p>\n

We have a dedicated swimming teacher at our Tooting swimming pool. All our teachers are either Swim England or Swimming Teachers Association Level 2 qualified or above (or hold equivalent certification).<\/p>\n

They all hold relevant first aid certification and all have up to date DBS certificates \u2013 to ensure the safety of your children.<\/p>\n

A bit about me<\/h4>\n

Having grown up in South Africa and Australia I was always in the water. It\u2019s where I\u2019m most at home. I now have 2 kids of my own and want to pass on my love of the water to them.<\/p>\n

I wish I started teaching swimming a long time ago. I get such a kick from seeing people growing in confidence in the water. Watching scared adults realise they can actually swim is extremely rewarding.<\/p>\n

What we teach<\/h2>\n

Our goal is to teach your baby to gradually become more independent in the water, in an enjoyable way for you both, making sure that being in the water is a pleasant experience from day one.<\/p>\n

Water safety is the lynch pin of all our teaching. Our lessons are designed to help your baby grow accustomed to the water, and learn early swimming habits such as grabbing, floating and blowing bubbles.<\/p>\n

Swimming at this age helps develop babies’ gross and minor motor skills, build strength in their muscles, and even aid listening and speech development! Much of what we do will support strength with head position, sitting, crawling and more!<\/p>\n

We often sing songs and rhymes to keep the classes fun and moving. Parents, grandparents and carers often report what a fun time it is for interact with their babies.<\/p>\n

Because babies grow so quickly our course content has been developed to make sure it complements each stage in your child\u2019s development:<\/p>\n

The school entrance is located at the main entrance of the school on Sellincourt Road. Please ring the buzzer, and tell the office that you are there for swimming. The pool is located to the right of the school in the back corner of the playground. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Once in the school, walk down towards the back of the school, keeping left of the building on your right.<\/p>\n

Turn right and then walk towards the end of the playground, towards a white building.<\/p>\n

If your little one was born prematurely, it\u2019s best to check in with your GP first, just to make sure they\u2019re ready for the pool.<\/p>\n

No need to wait \u2014 your baby can start swimming lessons even if they haven\u2019t had all their vaccinations yet.<\/p>\n

According to NHS guidance, it\u2019s completely safe for babies to go swimming from birth, as long as they\u2019re healthy. There\u2019s no medical reason to delay swimming until after vaccinations. So, if you and your little one are ready, we\u2019d love to welcome you to the pool.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re ever unsure or have specific health concerns, it\u2019s always a good idea to check in with your GP for peace of mind.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s okay \u2014 and totally normal. Some babies cry a little (or even a lot!) when they\u2019re experiencing something new, and that\u2019s perfectly natural. The pool can be full of unfamiliar sights, sounds, and sensations, so it might take a little time for them to feel completely at ease.<\/p>\n

We always take things gently and go at your baby\u2019s pace, with plenty of cuddles, songs, and encouragement along the way. With a bit of patience and consistency, most little ones settle in beautifully \u2014 and before you know it, they\u2019ll be splashing and smiling with confidence.<\/p>\n

Not at all. You don\u2019t need to be a strong swimmer to enjoy baby swimming lessons \u2014 just comfortable being in the water and holding your baby.<\/p>\n

Our classes are held in shallow, warm water, and you\u2019ll always be within standing depth. You won\u2019t be expected to swim or go underwater yourself. Our friendly instructors are there to guide and support you every step of the way, so you can focus on bonding with your baby and enjoying the experience together.<\/p>\n

Absolutley!<\/p>\n

Babies are more sensitive to the cold than we are, so it\u2019s really important that the water is warm.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why all the pools we use for our baby classes are heated to the recommended temperatures for little ones \u2014 at least 30\u00b0C for babies over six months, and 32\u00b0C for babies up to three months.<\/p>\n

If your baby has a mild cold but is otherwise happy, eating well, and full of smiles, you\u2019re very welcome to come along to class. A splash in the warm water can even help lift their mood!<\/p>\n

However, if your little one has a fever or a more serious illness \u2014 like a chest infection, ear infection, conjunctivitis, sickness, or diarrhoea \u2014 it\u2019s best to let them rest and recover at home.<\/p>\n

Following NHS guidance, we kindly ask that babies and children wait at least two weeks after a tummy bug (diarrhoea and vomiting) has completely cleared before coming back to swim. This helps us keep the pool safe and clean for everyone.<\/p>\n

We know that little ones can get poorly from time to time, so if your baby isn\u2019t feeling well and you can\u2019t make your usual class, you\u2019re welcome to request a catch-up session.<\/p>\n

All you need to do is email us at least an hour before your class starts \u2014 no need for a doctor\u2019s note or explanation. Each baby can have up to two catch-up sessions per term, subject to availability.<\/p>\n

While we can\u2019t carry missed classes over into future terms, we\u2019ll always do our best to help you stay on track and enjoy your time in the pool.<\/p>\n
